What do you look at?

Ostriches are amazing flightless birds that have been clocked as running 43 MPH. They have some quirks, one leading to the idiom bury your head in the sand (which means to ignore or hide from obvious signs of danger). It alludes to an ostrich, which is believed (incorrectly) to hide it’s head in a hole in the ground when it sees danger. Actually, when lying down and hiding from predators, the birds lay their heads and necks flat on the ground, making them appear like a mound of earth from a distance, aided by the heat haze in their hot, dry habitat. This defensive behavior of lying low makes them appear from a distance to have their head buried.

As I soaked in the tub, I was reading a fiction historical novel, by a Christian author, about the times just before, and during JESUS CHRIST’s life. I love to read, and the author had a neat style but graphic details triggered thoughts that were not good. So, I gave those thoughts to GOD, shut the book and later took it back to the library.  It is too easy to think about what we should not think of.

I opened an email from a dear, dear friend and it contained slurs about people, that although may be true, at least in part, it directed my thoughts to judging.  Thoughts I should not have.  Judging with only partial facts is just too easy to do but totally forbidden and must be guarded against. So, I deleted the email.

The Bible is jam packed with injunctions I might want to ignore.  But although GOD’s thoughts and ways are not ours (Isaiah 55:8-9) they work because HE is always right.  Therefore, if I want to do right I need to pay attention to what the Word of GOD says and act accordingly.

JESUS said, “Man cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of GOD” (Matthew 4:4).

Some call me closed minded, saying I bury my head in the sand and don’t know the times because I choose to use the Bible as my standard. It is not always easy, it is not always comfortable, but I’ve learned through the years of falling on my face by doing things my own way, that the LORD’s way is best.  HE made the world and everything in it, therefore HE knows how things work plus HE knows all things past, present and even future so know what I need to look for.  That makes HIM the only ONE qualified to give me instructions.

GOD honored my shutting that book, and deleting that email, by confirming my choices as I opened the Bible and read HIS words.

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single (looking at the right things), your whole body shall be full of light (and you will understand what to do).  But if your eye be evil (you look at and think about wrong), your whole body shall be full of darkness (and you will stumble and fall). If therefore the light that is in you (that which you think is right) be darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23).

“And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of GOD” (Romans 12:2).

Why is that so important?

Wherein in time past, (before you were saved and knew better) you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the (evil) spirit (the devil) that now works in the children of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2).

There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12).  Remember, Eve in the garden.

Just a little bit of human standard defilement brings in darkness.  It clouds things so much that it can throw off my perspective to the degree that I don’t know the right way to go. That is what has happened in our country for now right is called wrong and wrong is called right.

It is so important what we focus on is.  Where do you find the answers?

It’s a game changer

There are so many awesome truths tucked away, hidden in the word of GOD and although I have read through the Bible time and time again I keep getting sweet surprises as I open GOD’s word and read.  Take for instance the well-known story of Gideon.  His dad had a pagan altar to Baal and an idol (Asherah pole) so it is very likely Gideon himself bow down to these.  But when the LORD spoke a word to Gideon it was a game changer and changed Gideon’s entire worldview.

Then the LORD said to Gideon, who was hiding in fear from the Midianites, “Peace be with you; do not fear…” (Judges 6:23).  Then the Gideon built an altar to the LORD and called it “the LORD is peace.”

Why would Gideon do that?  Let me ask you a question, Have you ever been faced with trouble and you went to the LORD in prayer and dove into HIS word and the stress left and peace settled over you?  The Word of the LORD brings understanding and peace and instantly as the LORD spoke to Gideon he was washed in the peace of GOD and believed.

“Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of GOD.” (Romans 10:17).

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

“But YOU, O LORD, are a shield about me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.” (Psalm 3:3)

Are you in a deep valley facing something that is troubling?  Go to GOD and open HIS word.  It will be a game changer.

Claiming GOD’s promises

Do you remember ‘THE SPIRIT SONG?

Oh let the Son of GOD enfold you, with the SPIRIT of HIS love

Let HIM fill your heart and satisfy your soul.

Oh let HIM have the things that hold you, and HIS SPIRIT like a dove

Will descend upon your life and make you whole.

JESUS, o JESUS, come and fill YOUR lambs, JESUS, o JESUS, come and fill YOUR lambs

This was so good had to share- Quin Friberg’s messeage 11/14/20

Ephesians 4:1 Walk (live) in a manner that is worthy your calling (to be like JESUS-Romans 8:29)

Ephesians 4:17-20 don’t be like the unbeliever

Ephesians 4:17 in the futility of their thinking (vanity of their minds) who think there is no ultimate purpose or reason for their lives or for anything for that matter

Ephesians 4:18, 2 Peter 3:5, Romans 1:21 who are willingly ignorant (choosing to ignore and turn from truth) By refusing to glorify and thank GOD their foolish hearts and understanding darkened and have become blind/ alienated from the life of GOD.  They do not want the truth so ignore it.

Ephesians 4:19 so have given themselves over to sensuality, heart is desensitized/callous (calcified becoming harder and harder.  Like Romans 1:18-31 it’s a spiral downward to unbridled lust of greedy indulging themselves for pleasure not caring if it hurts another

But:

Ephesians 4:20-21 That is not how you learned of CHRIST, you have heard and believed the truth and have been taught by JESUS for the truth is in JESUS.

Ephesians 4:22 put off your old self, corrupt according to deceitful lusts by changing directions to follow CHRIST.  As in the game follow the leader, you do what you see the leader do.  So do what you see JESUS do.

Ephesians 4:23, Romans 12:2  Be renewed in the spirit of your minds by filling you mind with  the Word of GOD.

Ephesians 4:24 put on your new self, which is created in the likeness of GOD…doing right and being separate from evil- forsake the world.  JESUS said, “MY kingdom is NOT of this world” (John 18:36).

2 Peter1:3b-4 “…through the knowledge of HIM that has called us to glory and virtue (doing what is right) whereby we are given great and precious promises: that by using these you might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

As we listen to and obey the nudges GOD gives us through HIS Holy SPIRIT we can claim any promise that jumps out at us as we read GOD’s word.

It is spreading fast

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverbs 18:21). To think that a way we talk can be like that killing gangrene, or like cancer, is downright scary and that truth makes me watch the words I use and what I teach.

Today I saw again the spreading effect of the gangrene/ cancer of spoken deception, as one of my loved one spouted that there is no GOD. the reason given was that the one we proclaim- the GOD of the Bible- does things that are ungodly. This worldview of the unbeliever is so distorted by Satan’s influence of twisted deceptive innuendos that call good bad and bad good (Isaiah 5:20) it spreads like wildfire from person to person who want to do their own thing.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

But the fact remains that it is as the Word of GOD declares.  JESUS said, “I am the way, the truth and the life no man comes unto the FATHER but by ME (John 14:6).

How can we know if something is true? Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Will you join me as I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT convict the world of sin (John 16:8) and that GOD will let them feel HIS great sorrow and grief over sin by bringing them to repentance?  I know that they must then choose for themselves but HE can expose the lies and faith comes through hearing and hearing by the rhema (spoken by GOD) Word of Christ  (Romans 10:17).
