Most of us thought 2020 a bit rough, to say the least what with Covid and all the restrictions (especially masks). Now entering 2021 we have been confronted with alarming activities. The unsettling events today took me back to scenes of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests in China. It was as if I was looking at things happening across the oceans in another land- not here in America.
The riotous scenes concerning our government reminded me that we don’t know what lies ahead other than what is clearly foretold in the Bible. The last days will be filled with violence causing the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, Maker of Heaven and earth to: “.. punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible” (Isaiah 13:11).
So, I wasn’t much surprised when my reading in Isaiah shot me all over the Bible as I cross referenced concerning the Day of the LORD. Doing so I came to some amazing promises. These are promises to the GOD-fearing Jews that must endure that time, for we Christians will be Raptured before the rise of the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8) and the 7-year Tribulation/ Jacob’s Trouble (Jeremiah 30:7, Daniel 12:1). None the less, these promises are for us too because they show the unchanging desire and nature of our GOD.
GOD loves the people who sit at HIS feet and receive HIS word and HE holds them in HIS hand (Deuteronomy 33:3).
If you sanctify (devote yourselves to) the LORD and make (displeasing) HIM what you fear then HE will be a sanctuary (place of safety) for you (Isaiah 8:12-13).
GOD will keep in perfect peace the ones whose mind is focused on HIM because that one trusts in GOD (Isaiah 26:3).
GOD says..”let him take hold of MY strength, that he might make peace with ME and (then) he will make peace with me” (Isaiah 27:5).
“it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered” (Joel 2:32). Doesn’t that sound like Romans 10:13?
“but the LORD shall be the hope of HIS people and the strength of the children” (Joel 3:16)
“But you who fear MY name the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in HIS wings” (Malachi 4:1).
What a marvelous loving GOD our Heavenly FATHER and JESUS CHRIST our Savior is!
