Assignments

Some things all believers are assigned to do, one of them is be kind.  But each of us have specific special assignments. Are you doing your assignments or are you like the gal in my class who stated, “I don’t know what GOD wants me to do.”  Do you ever wonder what GOD has for you to do?

Reading the little book of Haggai this morning, 3 things seemed to jump off the page, grab my heart, and got me praying for myself and those on my prayer list asking that our great GOD stir up our hearts for the assignments HE has for each one of us to do.

The LORD stirred up their hearts to do what HE wanted done (Haggai 1:14).

The LORD works in our hearts to will and to be able to do what HE wants done (Philippians 2:13).

The LORD told them that HIS SPIRIT remained with them so not to be afraid (Haggai 2:5).

We were glorious given the HOLY SPIRIT of promise and are sealed with HIM until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30) and we have an enemy who would stop us from doing what GOD wants.  He tries to get us to doubt GOD’s word, HIS instructions, and HIS wise goodness (Genesis 3:1-5). Fear is another of his chief weapons and my last post spoke a little of how the enemy stirs up our hearts to worry and fear and bombards us with difficulties. We are to lift up the shield of faith that GOD means what HE says (Numbers 23:19), put on the helmet of salvation; remembering that “Greater is HE (the HOLY SPIRIT of the LIVING GOD) that is in us, than he (the enemy) that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Then, take up the sword of the SPIRIT, which is the Word of GOD (Ephesians 6:17- the verse or piece of a verse the HOLY SPIRIT brings to our minds) and resist the devil by verbally speaking out that Word of GOD and condemning any weapon formed against us (Isaiah 54:17).

Then, the LORD of armies said I have chosen you (Haggai 2:23).

The LORD said in Acts 9:15 that the Apostle Paul was chosen vessel to take the gospel to the Gentiles and that same gospel speaks to us Gentiles today through the words the HOLY SPIRIT moved Paul to write (2 Peter 1:21, 3:16).

In the same way you and I are chosen vessels of GOD to do what HE wants done.  GOD prepared in advance work for each of us to do to complete HIS overall plan (Ephesians 2:10) so we don’t have to chart our own path. HE assigns specific territory for us to work in and equips us for the work HE calls us to (2 Corinthians 10:13, Colossians 1:12).  As we daily seek the LORD and acknowledge (ask and speak to) HIM concerning all things (Proverbs 3:5-7) HE promises that at the proper time GOD HIMSELF will place what HE wants us to do in our hearts and write it in our minds (Philippians 2:13, Hebrews 10:16),  Therefore, we will know precisely the next step we are to take.  It’s totally amazing!  But notice we need to talk all things over with HIM and ask HIM questions when we have them.

The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY has called you and me, each to specific work (remember prayer is work) so go with the nudges GOD places within you, without fear “for faithful is HE who calls you who will also do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

If you have questions about what I have presented please prayerfully look up the verses I gave on each statement and I urge you in CHRIST’s stead to consider these things and may the good LORD give you wisdom and understanding and keep you from deception (James 1:5, 1 Corinthians 2:10) as HE guides you with HIS peace (Colossians 3:15), strengthens you with HIS joy (Nehemiah 8:10), and enables you with HIS grace (Hebrews 4:16). Now may the GOD of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT” (Romans 15:13). Keep looking unto JESUS (Hebrews 12:2) and talk over your thoughts with HIM (2 Corinthians 10:5).
